The locals and all Greeks in general, love mushrooms so much, that you will find these vegetables appearing even in the most traditional recipes.

Specifically the sautéed mixed mushrooms recipe is not popular simply because it is a match to most main course dishes but because it is a light and delicious choice that is full of important nutrients. Low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol –free, gluten-free and very low in sodium, they provide selenium, potassium and vitamin D.

Taste today our sautéed mixed mushrooms and enjoy another delicious find during your holidays to Skopelos.

  • We select our mushrooms first: portobello, porcini, champignon and shiitake (gills removed when necessary).
  • Then we heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • We add the mushrooms and cook for about 12-14 minutes, until they turn brown –while stirring occasionally.
  • Then we add some garlic and onion and cook for another 4 minutes.
  • Finally we stir in parsley, butter, salt and pepper.
  • We serve on a platter while warm.

The secret for the sautéed mixed mushrooms’ success is to heat the oil in the pan before adding them. Then, stirring should apply only when necessary, in order for the mushrooms to be cooked well and evenly. Most of all though to shape this delicious dish yourself when you go back home, you need to select the best mushrooms you will find, use extra virgin olive oil (and not just any kind of oil), and finally add some butter while serving. Explore our sautéed mixed mushrooms today. Your holidays to Skopelos never tasted better!
